The Latte Style Headband
Crocheting your own headband is a fun and easy project, ideal for beginners or anyone seeking to create a stylish and practical accessory.
Whether you want a simple, comfortable one for everyday wear or a decorative statement piece, crocheting a headband is a rewarding craft that can be completed in under an hour. In this blog post, I will guide you through a basic crochet headband pattern called the Latte-style headband.
This easy, beginner-friendly crocheted headband can be made to suit any size head. All you need to do is make the starting chain long enough to fit the person for whom you are making this headband, and the height of the headband can be any dimension you prefer. What is awesome about this design is that it uses basic stitches, such as single and double crochet.
This headband doesn’t require a lot of yarn, so you can use up unfinished balls of yarn. That is why this DIY crochet project is a great idea to save money on buying more yarn. The yarn I am using in this tutorial is I Love Cotton Yarn” khaki, using a number 4 medium-weight yarn (also called worsted) from a previous project I made. The offset v-top. The Supplies Needed For This Project
“I love this cotton yarn” in khaki, using a number 4 medium-weight yarn
Hook 5mm
Scissors
Yarn needle for weaving in the yarn ends.
Stitch markers (optional)
I have written the
directions for making the headband below, but you can also refer to the video tutorial, which provides a step-by-step guide.
This Stitch requires a multiple of 4+1+2. You will start with a foundation chain that fits comfortably around your head. Mine was “28" long and 100 chains. Then, you add 3 extra chains for the turning chain (103 chains).
Row 1: 1 sc into the 2nd ch from the
hook. Add 1 sc into each chain across the row.
Row 2 Ch 1 and turn yarn. Sl st into the first
st and into the next 24 stitches. In the 25 sl st, ch 3,* skip 2, 1dc, 1ch, 1dc into the 3rd stitch. ( This will create the v-stitch) Repeat * 15 times. In the same 15th stitch, ch 3, skip two
sts, and sl st into the 3rd st. Make a sl st into the next stitches across the row.
Row 3 Ch1 turn yarn. Sl st into the first ch and
in twenty-five across. Sl st into the
first ch 3 from the previous row. Ch3,
In the ch 1 space of the v stitch (1dc, 1ch, 1dc) make 1dc, 1ch, 1dc. * In the
next ch1 space of the v stitch make 1dc, 1ch, 1dc. Continue across until the last v-stitch. After
making the last stitch, ch 3, and sl st in
the first ch from the previous row.
You can repeat
row 3 for a thicker headband
Row 4 Ch 1 and turn yarn, Add 1 sl st into the
first stitch and into the stitches across until you reach the ch3 from the
previous row. Make a sc into the chains and stitches continue across until the
last chain of ch3. Sl st into each stitch until the end of the row. Fasten off the yarn, and weave in the yarn ends.
I hope you enjoy making your Latte-style headband. You can
make these in different colors. These will also be a cute crochet gift to give
to someone. Happy crocheting.
