How to crochet: The off-set v top

In this video tutorial, I will show you how to crochet the off-set v-stitch top. This is a beginner-friendly, DIY crochet tutorial that only requires you to know 4 stitches. Slip stitch, v-stitch, (consists of double crochet), and single crochet. The v-stitch is one of my favorites to work with, it is simple yet elegant. Stitches like these are great for crocheting tops. The offset v-top is a great make for the spring and summer seasons in addition, to an early fall top. This article contains affiliate links. Abbreviations used:

Ch -chain

Tch-turning chain

Dc- double crochet

Sc- Single Crochet

Sl St- slip stitch

V- stitch- skip 2 chains, 1 double crochet, 1 chain, 1 double crochet

This stitch requires a multiple of 3+1 and 3 more chains for the base.

I chained 72+1+3=76 chains. Ensure the amount that you chain is enough to cover your front and back body measurements. My length and width for this top is 43.28 cm

Row 2 will be continued for the rest of the pattern. Once you learn those steps, the rest of it will be easy to crochet.  Chain 4, 1 double crochet into the first stitch, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet, 1 chain, 1 double crochet into the next stitch. Repeat until 1 double crochet and 1 turning chain remain. Add 1 double crochet into the 2nd turning chain, then turn the yarn over.

Row 1 1dc into the 4th chain from hook, *skip 2 ch, from the hook, skip 2 ch, work a v-stitch of (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into the next ch, repeat from *to last 3 ch, skip 2 ch, 1dc into the last ch, turn.

Row 2 Chain 4, 1dc into the first stitch, V-stitch into the 2nd dc of next V-stitch. Repeat from * until 1 dc and the turning chain is left, skip dc and 1 ch, 1 dc into the next chain, and turn yarn.

Repeat row 2 until you get to the desired length. You will need to create two panels, which will serve as the front and back parts.

Stitching the armholes, shoulders, and the bottom of the top.

For the sides-. Starting at the end of the panels bring both panels together and add 1 sc to both sides. stop by the area where the armhole will be.

Shoulders-  Place stitch markers between the neck hole and add 1sc on both sides of the panels to connect the shoulders.

Armholes- Insert new yarn, ch 1, and add 1 sc into each stitch. Repeat around slip-stitch into the first ch. Repeat again.

Bottom panel -Insert new yarn, ch 1, and add 1 sc into each stitch. Repeat around slip-stitch into the first ch. Repeat again.

There are no increases or decreases involved in this tutorial So it makes it easy for beginners to follow through. Enjoy making your offset v- stitch top.
