Starting the Summer Solstice Top
I
chained 72+1+3=76 chains. Ensure the length of the chain is enough to cover
your front and back body measurements. My length and width for this top are
43.28 cm
Row 2
will be continued for the rest of the pattern. Once you learn those steps, the rest
of it will be easy to crochet. Chain 4, 1 double crochet into the first
stitch, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet, 1 chain, 1 double crochet into the
next stitch. Repeat until 1 double crochet and 1 turning chain remain. Add 1
double crochet into the 2nd turning chain, then turn the yarn over.
Row
1 1dc
into the 4th chain from hook, *skip 2 ch, from the hook, skip 2
ch work a v-stitch of (1dc, ch1, 1dc) into the next ch, repeat from *to last 3
ch, skip 2 ch, 1dc into the last ch, turn.
Row 3: Chain 4, 1dc into the first
stitch, V-stitch into the 2nd dc of the next V-stitch. Repeat from
* until 1 dc and the turning chain is left, skip dc and 1 ch, 1 dc into the
next chain, and turn yarn.
Row 4: Chain 4, 1dc into the first
stitch, V-stitch into the 2nd dc of the next v stitch. Repeat from
* until 1 dc and the turning chain is left, skip dc and 1 ch, 1 dc into the
next chain, and turn yarn.
For Rows
5-26, continue with the last row steps. Repeat row 2 until you get to the
desired length. You will now start to decrease the stitches to make the shape of
the top.
Decreasing the v-stitch
Place a
stitch marker in the center of the top; this will help guide where to
place the last v-stitch when decreasing the next row.
Row 27 Ch3, counts as 1 dc, Skip
the first st and continue making v-stitches until you reach the stitch
marker. Place one dc into the last st, turn yarn.
Repeat
Row 27 for 9 more rows. This will create a V shape for the top.
Making the Straps
Row 37:
Chain
4, 1dc into the first stitch, V-stitch into the 2nd dc of the next
V-stitch. Repeat from * until 1 dc and the turning chain is left, skip dc and 1
ch, 1 dc into the next chain, and turn yarn.
For the
next 18 rows, continue with the steps from row 37. (You can make the straps longer
or shorter depending on your desired length.
Sewing the panels together and connecting the straps
Place both
panels together with the right sides facing each other. With a yarn needle, sew through
the outer corners of the stitches, starting from the bottom and sew up. Repeat
with the other side. Fasten off the yarn.
To
connect the straps with the back panel, use some spare yarn and with a yarn
needle, sew through the outer stitches of the strap and the edging of the back
panel. When completed, fasten off and repeat with the other side.
Fasten
off the yarn and weave in all loose yarn ends. Your Summer Solstice Top is done.
Enjoy crocheting and wearing your top!
