Making the Suzette Ear Warmer

For an oversized ear warmer chain 16. For a skinnier headband chain, 12 Chain has multiple stitches that are 2, plus 1.

Row 1: Make a single into the second chain from the hook. In the same stitch make a double crochet. *Skip the next chain, single and double crochet into the next chain. Repeat * all the way across. Make a single crochet in the last stitch. Chain one and turn your work.

Row 2: In the first single crochet stitch make one single crochet and a double crochet stitch.  You will Skip the next double crochet.  Make one single crochet and one double crochet stitch in the next single crochet. Repeat this all the way across. Make a single crochet into the last stitch. Chain one and turn your work.

Repeat Row 2 until you have reached a width of 18 inches.

Finishing the Ear Warmer:

  • When you've reached the desired length,  it will be time to now close  off the headband.
  • To close the ear warmer into a circle, pinch  the two short edges together, make sure there is some room on the sides (watch the video tutorial)  and whip stitch them together, turn your headband around to make sure the headband fits comfortably around your head.

Optional: Add a Button or Decoration

  • If you'd like to add a button for extra flair, you can sew it onto one side of the ear warmer.

 Additional Tips:

  • For a softer, stretcher fit, you could also use a stretchy yarn blend.
  • If you find the Suzette stitch too difficult, you can try working it with just sc or dc for a simpler design.

Enjoy your cozy new ear warmer!
